TGI Friday’s Fire Bites

TGI Friday’s Fire Bites were a pleasant surprise on the menu. TGI Friday’s Fire Bites are no longer on the menu, but they were available as an appetizer or as a part of an appetizer tower. They’re easy to make, inexpensive, and taste very different.

Ingredients

  • 28 ounce sliced jalepeno peppers canned but not Not pickled
  • 2 2/3 cups cracker crumbs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Drain jalapeno peppers and set aside. Mix cracker crumbs and flour together; blend well. In a separate bowl, beat eggs and add water; blend well.

  • Heat oil to 350 degrees. Heat oil in fry pan, deep fryer, or fry cooker until the temperature is the same degree that you would fry French fries at. Dip slices of peppers in egg wash and then the flour and cracker crumb mixture; dust off excess dry ingredients and carefully place in hot oil.
  • Place peppers in your deep frying system so that they are not overcrowded. Take care--the peppers like to pop a little. Fry until golden brown. Remove peppers and drain on a paper towel.
  • Keep in mind not to put your fingers or hands on your face until you have finished working with these peppers.
Peppers are served with your favorite Con Queso Dip on the side.

I know this is an old recipe, but it’s still REALLY goooooood! I used to order these at TGI Friday’s and I was so upset when they stopped making them. This recipe hit the spot. Two notes: I crushed Ritz Crackers (not Saltiness or anything like that) and I made sure to get the Hot sliced jalapeños (and not the tamed jalapeños). Thanks for posting this recipe!!! Now, I need their fried green bean and Cucumber-Wasabi Ranch dipping sauce recipe. 😛

They swap out their menu a great deal. I love TGI Friday’s because they have really good creative dishes. I am working on their pretzel rolls and beer cheese sauce right now.
