Furr’s Cafeteria Millionaire Pie

There are so many reasons why Furr’s Cafeteria is well known for its extremely popular Furr’s Cafeteria Pineapple Millionaire Pie. This millionaire pie recipe makes a delightful pie that is full of flavor and pleasingly light in texture.

And, what’s more, this is a no-bake millionaire pie that only takes 20 minutes to put together. This recipe was adapted from one in the Fort Star-Telegram.

We can’t all be millionaires, but this pie is so rich and creamy that it will really make you think you are one. This pie is so delicious that everyone will be asking you for the recipe.

Furr’s cafeteria was first started as a family, cafeteria-style restaurant back in the 1940s. Today, while the delicious food and flavors haven’t changed, the restaurant is more buffet-style. However, if there isn’t a Furr’s near where you live, you can make this wonderful pie at home.

What is Millionaire Pie?

A millionaire pie is a no-bake southern dish that originates from South Carolina. Because this pie was so rich, it gave rise to the name millionaire pie – even if you weren’t wealthy, you felt so when you bit into its richness.

Traditionally, this dessert is made with cream cheese, coconut, Cool Whip, crushed pineapple, chopped pecans, (and optional oranges or lemon juice), all layered on top of a graham cracker crust. Some variations may use condensed milk and heavy cream.

One variation is a Hawaiian million-dollar pie or a billionaire’s pie with added cherry pie filling or maraschino cherries. For any variation, chilling the pie to thicken it and having the whipped topping is essential.

What Makes The Furr’s Cafeteria The Best Millionaire Pie

Furr’s Millionaire pie has the perfect amount of tangy crushed pineapple to balance the velvety, creamy filling. The pecans and pie crust really bring all of the dessert’s flavors together to create a delicious masterpiece!

Although there are many ways to alter millionaire pie, Furr’s pie has classic, traditional flavors and ingredients that can’t be beat!

You don’t need to be a professional baker to make this incredible pie! The recipe is so easy to prepare and requires less than 10 ingredients. It’s convenient that you can use a pre-made pie shell!

Also, I love that this pie is a crowd-pleaser, whether you make it for a nice family dinner, a potluck, or during the holidays! It can be your go-to dessert, no matter what time of year it is.

Pasteurized eggs are very safe for people who may have compromised immune systems.

What To Serve With Millionaire Pie

Although the pie is already incredibly indulgent on its own, you can serve it with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of French Vanilla Ice Cream.

If you want something crunchy to offset the soft pie, you can top it with crispy toasted coconut shreds or extra pecans.

Top it with maraschino cherries for a pop of color. Additionally, you can drizzle caramel sauce over it to upgrade its presentation when you plate it.

How To Store Furr’s Pineapple Millionaire Pie

The pie needs to stay in the refrigerator because it contains raw eggs and because leaving it at room temperature will make it soften. This isn’t a big deal since it is best when it is really cold. Leave it in the pie tin and cover it to ensure it stays fresh.

You can also freeze the pie if you wish, but since its texture might be slightly different when thawed, you might want to enjoy it partially frozen. It’s quite yummy as a frozen treat, too.

How Long Will The Pie Last?

As long as you store it correctly in the fridge, this delicious pie remains fresh for 3-4 days. After that, it might start to get watery or separate.
