This is from my neighbor growing up, she was a fantastic cook. This recipe is by Kay Corsi. Pueblo, Co. 1982.
You are going to love this classic apple pie.
- 6 cups apples (8-10) cored and pealed
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 1/2 tablespoons all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- sprinkle ground cloves
- 2 tablespoon butter on top
- 2 unbaked pie shells
Mix all ingredients and place in a deep 10-inch pie shell, dot with butter and place top dough over apples. Brush the top with milk then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Then back at 350 degrees until golden.
