This was handed down from my Grandmother. It was always requested for a birthday cake instead of the traditional ones. It’s very rich..but oh so good.

Rocky Road Dessert
Plenty of chocolate and nuts surround this light angel food cake.
Ingredients
- 1 Large Angel Food cake broken into pieces the size
- 18 ounces chocolate chips
- 1 Pint whipping cream
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 4 eggs seperated
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 12 ounces marshmallows
Instructions
- Melt chocolate. Beat egg yolks thoroughly and fold into melted chocolate. Quickly beat egg whites and add to mixture. Stir until smooth, set aside to cool. Whip cream and sugar. Fold into cooled chocolate mixture then stir in nuts. In a 13x9" pan, layer broken Angel food pieces in bottom then spoon some chocolate mixture over the pieces. Alternate between cake and mixture until gone. Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight. Keep any leftovers refrigerated (if there are any).

My Sister’s Recipe for Rocky Road Cake dhe made for Holidays.
2) 6 oz packages chocolate chips, melted.
Add 2 Tablespoons sugar and 4 beaten egg yolks a little at a time. Let cool. Then fold in 4 beaten egg whites. Fold in 1 cup of whipped cream and 1 cup of nuts. Pour over chunks of Angel Food Cake. Best to refrigerate overnight.

My Mom and Grandma use to make something I think is just like this, the only thing I don’t recall is the eggs. Are the egg whites whipped stiff or just mixed? My family has all passed so I have no way of asking and I have been searching the internet like mad and your recipe is the only thing that sounds remotely close. Thank you for your reply!
