CopyKat August Favorites is a list of products, computer apps, and other things that I am currently very enthused about. We all have favorite products that we love, and I am going to share some with you.
For Food Bloggers
I have a very talented co-worker. She likes to do some crafting. We had this conversation about what food bloggers would like to use, I told her background boards would be the best thing ever. If you look at all of my photos, you have pretty much seen all of my dishes, all of my tableware, and all of my furniture. She made some very crafty boards that have been very helpful in photographing food. She designed these dual sided boards that come in a variety of finishes. You can see some of her handiwork here. These have been used many times for photos, and in up coming videos you will begin to see these boards. They work out very well, and best of all you don’t have to iron anything.
These boards have been used in the following posts:
Chuy’s Creamy Jalapeno Sauce
Lebanese Potato Salad
Ambrosia Fruit Salad
Creamy Tuna Noodle Casserole

For the Kitchen
Each and every month I try out all sorts of new kitchen gadgets and items that you may like as well. This month I have to say, I really have enjoyed shopping at Aldi’s. I have read from a lot of other bloggers about this store. It is definitely in my top 5 grocery stores. What do I like about Aldi’s? Their store brands are actually very good. I have found their store brand of potato chips, and their store brand of Doritos to be quite good. The chips aren’t quite as thin, but they taste very, very good. I also really like their inexpensive produce, and sometimes they even carry organic produce, so I personally love to shop there. If you have one nearby I definitely recommend shopping there.
Do you like to bake sweet yeast breads? I do. I really like saf-instant Gold Instant Yeast, 1 Pound Package, you can find this at Amazon.com. This type of yeast is best for things like homemade croissants, sweet breads, danish, sweet doughs, kolaches, variety breads, donuts. I think this is far superior the traditional yeast you can find for these types of breads. The result is a sweeter bread that you are certain to love as much as I do.
I love to grill during the summer. It is hot in Texas, I hate cooking in the kitchen during the summer, and I am a big fan of using the outdoor grill. Oxo has a great meat tenderizer that has over 50 blades to help you tenderize your meat, and I find it really cuts down on marinating time. It has a nice safety catch so you won’t cut yourself, and it is dishwasher safe. OXO Good Grips Bladed Meat Tenderizer
I am really enjoying MyFitnessPal app. It is free, and it will help you cut calories and help you control your diet. It helped me to lose just about 10 pounds during the last month. I love it because I can use it both on the phone and at my laptop. Need a friend there, drop me a note, and we can follow each other.
What I am reading
I am always checking out new blogs, or blogs that are new to me. If you are a creative type or a blogger you may want to check out byregina.com she can help you unleash your creativity in a good way.
New Favorite Cookbook
My Paris Kitchen: Recipes and Stories. So I tend to fall in love with whatever this man is cooking. He gave me my most favorite chocolate ice cream recipe, that recipe is in The Perfect Scoop: Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, and Sweet Accompaniments. I love French cooking, to me, it is for me what I think of when I think of gourmet food. This book has so many things that I love in it, the Garlic Mayonnaise with accompaniments is an amazing sauce, and the suggestions for what to serve it with make it cocktail party worthy. The potatoes cooked in duck fat are truly out of this world. If you like French cooking, I highly recommend this cookbook.
That’s all for this month. Please note, some of the links in this post are affiliate links. Affiliate links means I may receive compensation for you purchasing these products. Note, none of these recommendations are sponsored all opinions are my own.
