Yes, another month has gone by, and here is a round up of all of my favorite things for the month of October.
For the Kitchen
This month my blogging has pushed me into creating holiday recipes. For a couple of years I had wanted to make a fried turkey. So this last year I tried making a fried turkey with a Masterbuilt 23011114 Butterball Indoor Gen III Electric Fryer Cooker Extra Large Capacity and I have to say I loved it. It is a very easy way to make a delicious fried turkey indoors. If you want to make a fried turkey indoors I definitely recommend using one of these. You will have a delicious turkey made easily indoors.
Another recent addition was a Masterbuilt 20070213 30-Inch Black Electric Digital Smoker, Front Controller, if you know me, there is one thing I really struggle with when it comes to cooking. I struggle with smoked brisket, which is something that is done very well in Texas. It is done very well but not done well by me. I found that when I cooked a brisket in the electronic smoker it was quite delicious and one of the best that I have made. I also thought the chicken that I made was frankly outstanding.
I want to try my hand at some smoked salt very soon. I have purchased this before, but I thought the flavor of the chicken and brisket was amazing, so I know the smoked salt will be fantastic as well.
OXO Good Grips Perfect Cut Twine Dispenser
is a great way to store and to cut cooking twine. This may be a great product for the holiday. What I really like about this is that is one of the few twine dispensers that actually keeps the twine nice and clean. It cuts it easily and quickly. What I also think is great about this nifty tool is that you can use other cooking twines with this unit.
I am always trying out new tech products. Some of it is related to the fact I am lucky and tech items simply show up at my house. They show up, and the understanding is that I should review these products.
Bell+Howell 9434 Clever Grip Air Vent Portable easy phone mount good for all smart phones is a great way to store your phone while you are driving. It is a simple clip that clips into the air vent of your car. It does well for the smaller smartphones. It will not handle a phablet, so no large iPhones, and no large Samsung Notes. This is a great handy way to be able to see what’s going on the phone, and it is hands-free.
What I am Reading
Dadgum That’s Good. . . and Healthy!: Lightened-up Favorites for Smoking, Frying and Grilling! – while this book primarily goes with the smoker there are other recipes in this book. These recipes tend to be a little lighter and lower in fat and calories. In this book is a really nice pineapple rice, a buffalo ranch fried chicken, grilled Caesar salad, and many more recipes. These recipes are well written and the book is filled with pictures. If you happen to have a smoker this book is a great addition. If you don’t have a smoker there are some recipes in here that you may enjoy.
That’s about all for this month. Let me know what cook products you have been using this month. Do you have any recent favorites?
