The Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino is a delicious way to enjoy an icy cold coffee. You can recreate this special drink at home.
I always joke that it’s the sugar in my coffee that gets me going way before the caffeine. I like my coffee sweet with a hint of coffee flavor. To be fair though I don’t drink coffee often, it’s normally a treat. That’s how I feel about the caramel frappuccino – it’s a sweet treat perfect for splurging every now and then.
The caramel frappuccino has always been a popular drink at famous coffee house, Starbucks. In fact, the Starbucks website states that it’s “hands down” their most popular frappuccino drink. And it’s easy to see why!
You start with a coffee base, add in some caramel for flavoring, a bit of milk, some ice and top with whipped cream. And more caramel on top of course. It’s easy to make at home and a perfect way to treat yourself without going through the drive-thru line.
Now making this at home is super easy. Just follow the recipe below. It doesn’t have to be pretty – as long as it tastes good! I suggest grabbing some caramel syrup to have on hand. It’s great in the caramel frappuccino, but also any coffee drink. You can also do a shot of espresso, cold brew coffee or use day old coffee like I did! If you want a lighter version you can use skim milk, or if you want to you can use almond milk, or my new favorite cashew milk.
If you don’t have an espresso maker you may want to consider using instant espresso. Espresso is slightly different than coffee as the water is steamed through the coffee, so it is a little stronger than traditional drip coffee. Here is a brand of instant espresso that I like. Medaglia D’Oro Instant Espresso Coffee, 2 Oz. You may also want to consider using a tool that Italians use to make espresso at home. The Bialetti Mocha pot is how Italians have been making espresso at home. These coffee pots are less than 30 dollars, and make real Italian espresso. Bialetti Moka Express 3 Cup Espresso Maker 06799 is a great way to make espresso at home.
