One of my favorite things about copycat recipes is the ability to save money. I mean who doesn’t love to save money? Here is a collection of some of my favorite copycat recipes to help you save money, and to make more food favorites from scratch.

Spice Cabinet Replacements

These recipes are perfect to make some replacements in your spice cabinets.
Homemade Baking Powder – Are you ever in a pinch for just a bit of baking powder?

Brown Sugar – Are you ever looking for just a bit of brown sugar? This recipe is a great way to make just a bit of brown sugar for when you need some.

Dry Rub Steak Seasoning – Do you ever look for the perfect steak seasoning? Here is a great dry steak seasoning rub.

BBQ Beef Chili Rub & Coffee Cure – This is my favorite steak seasoning rub. I use this on ribs, brisket, and steak. This is my go to recipe for steak rub.

Homemade Taco Seasoning – This is my favorite homemade Taco seasoning. This is a taco seasoning blend that I have been using for years. Unlike store bought taco seasoning this is salt free. So if you need a salt free seasoning blend, look no further.

Vanilla Salt – This recipe is from Cravings of a Lunatic, and it is a really creative way to enhance dishes like fish and vegetables.

Homemade Ranch Seasoning – Who isn’t looking for this recipe? I know many people have asked me for an MSG free version, and here you go. Far less expensive, and it works well in recipes.

Good Seasons Italian Dressing – This is a great substitute for the more expensive salad dressing. I love to use this in recipes, and sometimes when I make the mix as a salad dressing I add a touch of liquid smoke for something extra.

How to make Italian Seasoned Breadcrumbs – I find this is perfect to make breadcrumbs for Eggplant Parmesan or any other Italian inspired dish.

Homemade Bread Crumbs – this is the perfect recipe for homemade bread crumbs when you want a simple breading. I use this for making fried cheese sticks, to sprinkle over macaroni and cheese, and so many more other dishes.

Refrigerated Replacements

Homemade Mascarpone Cheese – This is expensive when you buy this from the store, but so inexpensive to make.

Homemade Cream Cheese – You can make this homemade cream cheese from scratch. I think this is a great idea if you want to go organic.

Homemade Mayonnaise – this is good from the jar, but even better when it make it from scratch. It is an easy recipe to make too.

Chart House Blue Cheese Salad Dressing – You can make this with less ingredients that you will find on the bottle.

Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup – Make this one from scratch, it is quick and easy to put together.

How to Make Cocktail Sauce – Do you ever want to serve just a bit of cocktail sauce. This is the perfect way to do it.

Caesar Salad Dressing in 30 Seconds – You can make this salad dressing almost more quickly than you can put this together.

    I have been looking for a replacement for McCormick’s Gourmet Chicken and Potato with Herbs de Provence. I really loved that and they have discontinued it. It was so simple! Mix the spices, a little olive oil and white wine, just toss and bake. Any ideas would be appreciated!
