Fruit Cocktail Cake

This vintage recipe uses a can of fruit cocktail for its special flavor.

  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • a dash salt
  • 16 ounces fruit cocktail
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar


  • Beat egg, vanilla, and sugar together. Then add flour, baking soda, salt, and fruit cocktail. Put in greased baking pan 8'x8'. Sprinkle with brown sugar and 1/2 cup pecans. Them sprinkle with cinnamon and dot with butter. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes.
