Ingredients
- 1 store-bought pound cake (like Sara Lee)
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pound ripe strawberries hulled and sliced vertically
Instructions
- If using frozen pound cake, let it thaw completely. Slice into 3/8-inch slices.
- In a chilled mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Chill until ready to assemble.
- To assemble the strawberry shortcake, place one slice of pound cake onto a plate and top with about 3 tablespoons of whipped cream. Add a layer of strawberries on top of the whipped cream. Stack a second piece of pound cake on top of the strawberries and top with an additional 3 tablespoons of whipped cream. Layer more strawberries over the whipped cream and serve immediately.
