Oven Baked Creamed Corn Casserole

Cheesy Creamed Corn is a tasty twist to a classic southern side dish recipe. Cheddar cheese adds a special savory flavor and richness to sweet corn.

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped white onions
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 20 ounces frozen corn thawed
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese


  • Melt butter in a saucepan, add onions and salt over medium heat.  Cook onions until they become translucent.
  •  Add flour and cook for 1 minute or until the mixture becomes fragrant.  
  • Stir in milk stir until the mixture becomes thick.
  • Add corn and cheese.  
  • You can serve straight from the stovetop.  Or you can sprinkle on some additional cheese and heat in the oven until the cheese melts.

You can easily double or triple this recipe for when you need to feed a large crowd.  This is the perfect Thanksgiving creamed corn recipe.   Simply make the recipe, and keep warm in a slow cooker until you are ready to serve.
