Are you looking for an easy and delicious homemade coleslaw? Look no further than this recipe. The Brookville Hotel is a famous hotel in Kansas, and they are known for their large family-style chicken dinners. Their coleslaw, and their creamed corn are some of the star attractions of this meal.

Simple ingredients combine perfectly together

This coleslaw has just the right balance of flavor, it is sweet and just a little bit tart. These flavors together make the perfect coleslaw. The sweetness comes from the sugar in the recipe. This recipe is made with:

  • shredded cabbage
  • heavy cream
  • sugar
  • salt
  • vinegar

Want to save time? You can purchase pre-shredded cabbage and not have to worry about slicing the cabbage into small slivers. You could use a mandolin to shred the cabbage if desired. No matter if you slice it up, or buy it already shredded, you can quickly prepare this famous coleslaw.

Why the Brookville Hotel Coleslaw tastes so good

This homemade coleslaw is completely refreshing and perfect for potlucks, picnics, and summer barbecues. This simple comfort food recipe is so easy to put together. The combination of the vinegar and the sugar gives this coleslaw the perfect amount of sweet and sour that makes this coleslaw craveable.

I like to make this recipe a couple of hours ahead of time so the flavors mingle a bit. So often this is the first dish that I prepare when I make a meal. This way I get to serve the coleslaw at its peak of flavor.

I made this to serve with pulled pork on July 4th… Everyone loved it!! I had to make a second batch because people were taking bowls of it instead of just using it on their sandwich’s! THE BEST I’VE EVER HAD!!

A Kansas classic. Use the heavy whipping cream and whip the sauce well. Takes 5 minutes with purchased bagged cabbage.
