How to cook shrimp
You can buy whatever size of shrimp: petite, small, medium, or even jumbo shrimp. I often buy what’s on sale. I simply take a large pot and add about a quart and a half of water. Set the pot on the stovetop and turn it on high and bring the pot to a boil. Add about a teaspoon of salt and a bay leaf. Add your shrimp, and boil until the shrimp turns pink. Remove from the water, drain. If needed peel and devein. Give the shrimp a good chop and you will be ready to add the shrimp to the recipe.
