You can make this recipe in just a couple of minutes. Who doesn’t love shrimp recipes you can put together in a flash? You won’t even need to dirty up a bunch of dishes. This recipe is made simply by combining sour cream, cream cheese, scallions, and some cooked shrimp. Stir together, and season with a little salt and pepper if you like, and you are good to go.

This recipe is easy to make, so you aren’t going to need to grab a lot of tools to make this dip. So even if you don’t cook a lot, you are going to be successful at making this recipe. You will need:

  • a sharp knife
  • cutting board

What type of shrimp will you need?

You can use several different types of shrimp for this recipe. I have made this with canned shrimp, and I have made it with fresh shrimp, or even frozen shrimp. Many grocery stores sell shrimp that is already cooked, if you buy raw shrimp, it takes just minutes to cook shrimp. Be sure to cook the shrimp until it is pink. You will soon fall in love with this creamy shrimp appetizer recipe.

How to cook shrimp

You can buy whatever size of shrimp: petite, small, medium, or even jumbo shrimp. I often buy what’s on sale. I simply take a large pot and add about a quart and a half of water. Set the pot on the stovetop and turn it on high and bring the pot to a boil. Add about a teaspoon of salt and a bay leaf. Add your shrimp, and boil until the shrimp turns pink. Remove from the water, drain. If needed peel and devein. Give the shrimp a good chop and you will be ready to add the shrimp to the recipe.

Shrimp Dip Variation – Make it your own!

Sure, it’s always great to make a recipe has written, but we all love making our mark on a recipe. Here are some suggestions for you.

  • add a teaspoon of finely minced jalapeno pepper
  • add a teaspoon or two of PickaPeppa sauce
  • add a teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • add a teaspoon of chopped shallots
  • a squeeze of lemon juice
  • add a tablespoon of finely minced shallots

How to serve shrimp dip.

You will want to serve this gooey dip recipe with lots of dippers. Pretzels, pita chips, and crudites are all great choices. Sometimes I serve this with some of my seasoned party crackers.

    Can this be heated or best cold? I am trying to find a hot shrimp dip with roasted red peppers and cream cheese. Not sure of other ingredients. Its from the Islamorada Fish Company in The Florida Keys. They just call it roasted red pepper shrimp dip. It’s to die for lol.
