- I have also made this green bean casserole with frozen green beans with good results. There is also a mix of frozen vegetables called Oriental mix that contains, mushrooms, onions, and broccoli that this casserole works well with too. Use you imagination on this one!
Instead of French Fried Onions, my wife tops the casserole with tater tots and grated cheese.
I really enjoy it but like others have said, use your imagination.
In a pinch I have added 1 can of diced potatoes family says it’s more rounded meal that way. I suppose you could also add rice instead. And yes I add the milk.
Do we need to add milk if using cream of mushroom soup?
Yes, you need the milk along with the can of soup.
1 2 oz can of mushroom soup????
No, it’s a 2 ounce can of mushrooms, 1 can of mushroom soup.
I’m going to use some big FRESH mushrooms instead of canned. YUM!
Sounds delish to me.
Can u use cream of something else? My kids won’t do celery or mushrooms.
Yes, I use cream of chicken all the time. In fact I just use what I have or just mix them, cream of mushroom, chicken or celery.
Oh, yum! My family would gobble this up for dinner!
Looks so good! Never thought to add Cream of Celery! Great idea!
i make this recipe with american cheese and use broccoli instead of green beans and it is wonderful
I will have to try it sometime with the American cheese. The addition of American cheese sounds tasty.
