Cold-brewed coffee is the best but not the only option for this recipe. While it requires advanced planning, it is one of the easiest brewing methods to master. However, if you don’t want to mess with a new brewing method, you can make this drink using cold leftover coffee or instant coffee powder in cold water.
How To Prepare the Dunkin Brown Sugar Sweet Cream Cold Brew
- Make cold brew coffee ahead of time. Or brew strong coffee the day before and refrigerate it overnight so it’s nice and cold.
To make the spiced brown sugar syrup:
- Stir together the brown sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat.Â
- Add the cinnamon.Â
- Continue to stir into the sugar completely dissolves, and then turn off the heat. Â
- Remove the uncovered pan from the stove and let it cool to room temperature.Â
- If using cinnamon sticks, discard them.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, transfer to an airtight container, and store in the fridge until use.Â
To prepare the brown sugar cold foam:
- Combine the milk, heavy cream, and 1.5 to 2 ounces of the spiced brown sugar syrup in a bowl or blender.Â
- Whisk or blend for 40 to 50 seconds.
- Alternatively, you can shake the mixture in a sealed jar until foamy.
To finish the drink:
- Fill the serving glass a quarter of the way with ice.Â
- Pour the cold coffee into the glass, leaving about an inch of space for the cold foam.
- Top with the cold foam and serve. If desired, give the top a dusting of cinnamon sugar.
How to Customize the Drink
You can switch things up to suit your tastes. Here are a few suggestions:
- Use instant espresso powder mixed with milk and topped with cold foam for a latte version of this drink.Â
- Add a tablespoon of brown sugar syrup to the coffee if you want it sweeter.Â
- Substitute half-and-half for the milk in the cold foam for even creamier results.Â
- Replace the cinnamon with an inch of peeled ginger for a different flavor profile.Â
Storage & Reheating Instructions
- Assembled Drink: Consume immediately for the best texture and flavor separation.
- Brown Sugar Syrup Storage:Â Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Stir before each use.
- Cold Foam Storage: Cold foam is best when made fresh, but it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Re-whisk before using.

Dunkin Brown Sugar Sweet Cream Cold Brew Copycat
Ingredients
Cold Brew Coffee
- 16 ounces water
- 1/2 cup coarsely ground coffee
Brown Sugar Syrup
- 2 cups dark brown sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 cinnamon sticks or 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Brown Sugar Sweet Cream
- ½ cup 2% milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 6 tablespoons brown sugar syrup
Instructions
Cold Brew Coffee
- Add the water and coffee to a French press or large Mason jar.
- Place a lid on the container and refrigerate for at least 12 hours.
- After 12 hours, separate the coffee from the grounds. If using a French press, press down on the plunger and pour the coffee into another container. If using a Mason jar, pour the coffee through a coffee filter.
- Store the cold brew coffee in the refrigerator.
Brown Sugar Syrup
- Combine the dark brown sugar, water, and cinnamon in a small saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and cook just until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sugar syrup cool to room temperature.
- When the syrup has cooled, stir in the vanilla and remove the cinnamon sticks if you used them.
- Store the syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
Brown Sugar Sweet Cream
- Combine the 2% milk, heavy cream, and 3 to 4 tablespoons of the prepared syrup in a small bowl.
- Stir well. I like to use a mixer or a blender for this because you can beat some air into the mixture to make it extra creamy. If you do not use all of the sweet cream immediately, store it in an airtight container in your refrigerator.
Drink
- Fill a tall glass with ice.
- Add the cold brew coffee and brown sugar sweet cream.
