Three-Ingredient Wendy’s Frosty: The Perfect Chocolatey Treat

That iconic chocolate frozen treat from Wendy’s has been satisfying sweet cravings since 1969. I still remember my first Frosty at age seven, sitting in a booth with my dad, attempting to use a straw before giving up and grabbing a spoon. Now you can recreate this beloved treat at home with just three simple ingredients and about five minutes of active preparation time.

Why This Recipe Works

The secret to a perfect homemade Frosty lies in freezing chocolate milk into ice cubes rather than using regular ice, which would water down the flavor. This method maintains the signature thick, creamy texture that’s too thick for a straw but perfect for a spoon. The sweetened condensed milk adds richness while the whipped topping creates that light, airy texture that makes Frosties unique among milkshakes.

What’s in a Wendy’s Frosty – the Frosty ingredients

You don’t have to run to your closest Wendy’s when you’re craving a chocolatey treat. You can make a copycat frosty at home with only three ingredients! Yup, only three simple ingredients.

Main Components

  • Chocolate milk – Forms the flavor base when frozen into cubes, providing the signature chocolate taste
  • Whipped topping – Adds creamy texture and lightness that distinguishes a Frosty from regular milkshakes
  • Sweetened condensed milk – Provides richness and the distinctive sweet flavor profile

Grab your blender and whip up a frosty at home. Just be sure to make a batch of french fries to go along with your frosty. (Because who doesn’t dip their fries in their frosty?!)

How to make a Wendy’s chocolate Frosty

  1. The night before pour chocolate milk into an ice cube tray and place the tray into the freezer. You want the chocolate milk frozen when you start to prepare the Frosty.
  2. Grab a blender and add 12 cubes of frozen chocolate milk, 1 cup of Cool Whip, and add 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk.
  3. Puree until smooth and creamy.

Tips for making the copycat Wendy’s frosty recipe

  • The key to making this at home is frozen chocolate milk. Freeze the chocolate milk in ice cube trays the day before.
  • Freeze your whipped cream as well. This will ensure the right consistency for your frosty treat. I love using Cool Whip for this copycat.
  • Scrape down the sides of your blender to ensure everything mixes well.

There’s a site I go to that has a recipe for chocolate syrup that’s pretty close too Hershey’s. The name of the site is Hillbilly Housewife. Making your own chocolate milk could save on the calories and sugar.

How can the Frosty be so many carbs?
I guess I don’t drink chocolate milk that often. Where all the carbs coming from?

  5. ShirlR

Back when Wendy’s first came to our city, I loved these Frostys. There was a topping they used to put on them, seemed like it was a sort of white marshmallow sauce. That marshmallow creme sauce really made the Frosty twice as good!

WOW! with a calorie count like 520 a person would not want to eat too many of those in a weeks time. OOOFTA. Fat city here we come.
