Houston’s is a wonderful restaurant. If you have never been there everything is made fresh, and it’s made there fresh every day. It is the kind of restaurant you go to when you want to have a really nice meal.

It’s not the restaurant you go to when you want to have a quick meal. It is a place of celebrations and when you want to treat someone.

Their salad dressing is heavenly. Houston’s Buttermilk Garlic Salad Dressing tastes amazing. There is a touch of spice to it and, of course, just the right amount of garlic.

I know that when you try this salad dressing you aren’t going to buy a bottle of salad dressing again.

Why make buttermilk garlic salad dressing at home?

There is a huge benefit of making salad dressing at home. The first benefit is that homemade salad dressing tastes better than salad dressing out of a bottle.

It also contains less sodium and preservatives. If you need a salad dressing to be gluten-free, you can make it that way too.

Houston’s is one of my favorite restaurants of all times and I am a big fan of this dressing. Who knew it was so easy to make. Thanks for sharing.

Houston’s is owned by the Hillstone Restaurant Group. They have a lot of restaurants.
But to answer your question, there are two Houston’s Restaurants in Houston, Texas and four in Dallas, Texas but the Houston’s Restaurant chain is not exclusive to Texas. I have provided a link to help you find one (hopefully) near your. And might I also recommend the Hawaiian Steak and Traditional House Salad with Buttermilk Garlic Dressing? Totally AWESOME!!

Have you ever had Houston’s bleu cheese dressing? It has an olive oil base instead of mayonnaise and it’s full of different seeds. It’s just this side of heaven! I am born and bred a Texan but 4 years ago I married a wonderful man but he’s born and bred a Rhode Islander so this is where I live now. I would go to great lengths to get that recipe! I used to go there a lot and I always purchased at least one quart of it at a time. It’s THAT good. Please try it and see if you can duplicate it. Thank you SO much in advance!

I had the original recipe that was on here and thought it was perfect but when this new one came out a few years ago I threw the first one away. It was better than this one. When Houston’s was in Austin I used to buy this dressing every time I went. Could have just drank it from the jar. Sure miss the Houston’s that was here because I never go through Houston on my way to Beaumont. Hate I 10.

Just made this as directed except used low fat mayo and sour cream. I think it is good but too sweet. I would cut down on sugar. Also, it was very thick, so added more buttermilk and regular milk. I live in Houston, too, so access to the restaurant. And we are flooded.

I made this dressing as is and thought it was great. I’m eating lighter now so made it with the following changes: light mayo, Greek yogurt, and sugar substitute and added a few shakes of Lea & Perrins. This has become my favorite dressing.

Am eager to try this. We don’t have a Houstons but this recipe sounds awesome. I like making dressings/dip from scratch and this one sounds like something everyone will like.

  7. Cindy Leslie

Made the salad dressing for dinner last night. We thought it was very good. Didn’t make any changes. Made it the day before. Would make this again.

  8. Katie

Never been to Houstons, But just made this and it is fantastic!! Can’t wait to try it in a hour or so for lunch with my salad. Love this site, can’t wait to try more of your recipes. Thanks!!!!

Thank you for your suggestion. I appreciate it. I will have to add some of it, and see how it tastes.

    • Maria

Are the other ingrediants correct that are listed? It’s my favorite dressing and I’ve never been able to get the taste to come close to Houstons

  9. Pam Barone

I think I will try this but without the sour cream. More buttermilk sounds better to me. Maybe kefir even. Looking forward to making this recipe as written and then trying a variation. Thank you.
