Wingstop Blue Cheese Dip

I still remember the first time I attempted to recreate Wingstop’s legendary blue cheese dip at home. After countless spicy wing nights where we’d run out of dip too soon, I was determined to master this creamy, tangy sauce. What started as a simple experiment turned into this perfectly balanced recipe that perfectly captures that distinctive Wingstop flavor – and might even be better than the original.

What Makes Wingstop Blue Cheese Dip So Good

Cut the heat from even the hottest wings with this mouth-cooling Blue Cheese Dip recipe from Wingstop. This unique side sauce combines the intense flavors of a classic blue cheese dress and the creamy tang of ranch dressing with a hint of umami from Worcestershire sauce for something exceptional.

It’s one of Wingstop’s most popular sauces, and now you can make it at home.

Why You Should Try This Recipe

It may not be quite blue cheese or ranch dressing, but it is 100 percent scrumptious. This isn’t your ordinary blue cheese dip. By combining the richness of blue cheese with the herbaceous tang of ranch and the subtle depth of Worcestershire sauce, you get a perfectly balanced dip. It’s thick enough to cling to wings but smooth enough to dress a salad.

Blue Cheese Ranch Ingredients

For this Wing Stop blue cheese recipe, you’ll need:

  • Buttermilk – Provides tanginess and helps thin the dip to the perfect consistency
  • Mayonnaise – Creates a rich, creamy base and adds stability to the mixture
  • Hidden Valley Original Ranch Seasoning and Salad Dressing Mix – Adds classic ranch herbs and spices for depth of flavor
  • Worcestershire sauce – Contributes umami depth and subtle complexity
  • Blue cheese crumbles – Delivers the signature sharp, salty flavor that defines the dip

If you can’t find Hidden Valley Original Ranch Seasoning and Salad Dressing Mix, substitute another brand, such as Watkin’s Organic Ranch Salad Dressing Mix.

Common Questions & Troubleshooting

Why is my dip too thick?

Add buttermilk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

Can I make it smoother?

Yes! Pulse half the blue cheese with the liquid ingredients in a blender, then stir in remaining crumbles for texture.

Why doesn’t it taste exactly like Wingstop’s?

Restaurant recipes often vary by location. This version focuses on fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best home result.

Substitutions & Modifications

Ingredient Options

  • Buttermilk → Mix 1 cup milk with 1 tablespoon lemon juice, let stand 5 minutes
  • Hidden Valley Ranch Mix → Any ranch seasoning mix or 2 tablespoons dried herbs/spices mix
  • Blue cheese → Gorgonzola for a milder flavor
  • Mayonnaise → Greek yogurt for a lighter version (will affect texture)

Dietary Modifications

  • Lower fat version: Use light mayonnaise and low-fat buttermilk
  • Gluten-free: Verify ranch mix is gluten-free
  • Keto-friendly: Use full-fat ingredients, verify ranch mix carb content

What to Serve With Blue Cheese Dip

A big bowl of blue cheese ranch goes great with a plate piled high with spicy Buffalo wings. Don’t forget to offer some raw vegetables on the side for that essential crunch. Carrots, celery, chopped cucumber, light-blanched broccoli, and cauliflower florets are all a little better with a bit of dip.

Other Ways You Can Use This Dip?

This Wing Stop Blue Cheese recipe is pretty versatile. Here are just a few ways you can use this sauce:

  • A spread for burgers and sandwiches. Replace boring mayo with a thick layer of this dip for an extra flavor boost. It’s particularly delicious when added to a spicy chicken sandwich
  • A salad dressing. Thin out the thick dip with a little more buttermilk to turn an everyday side salad into something memorable.
  • A sour cream substitute. Swap this recipe for regular sour cream. Fry up some bacon and stir it into the dip to totally transform potato skins and baked potatoes.
  • A dipping sauce for bread. This recipe turns breadsticks or garlic bread twists into the perfect appetizer for game day or any casual gathering.

How to Store Blue Cheese Ranch Dip

Do not save any extra dip you served to prevent you or your family from getting sick. However, you can store any unserved Blue Cheese Rance Dip in the fridge inside an airtight container. The dairy in this dip prevents it from freezing well.

How Long Does This Dip Last?

The only drawback to this homemade Wing Stop Blue Cheese dressing is that it does not last as long as the mass-produced stuff you buy in the store. But when properly stored, it should last up to four days in the fridge, and with so many delectable ways to use it, you won’t have to worry about it going to waste!

Almost tastes like wingstops , but not quite right. It does taste really good. Very thin…not at all like Wingstops thick, thick dressing. So, I added 1/2 teaspoon of
Xanthum Gum to thicken it. I’m keeping this one but the search continues for the wingstop copy. We did buy Wingstops, and did a side by side.
