What Makes This Grilled Chicken Wrap So Good?

Wraps are a lighter and healthier alternative to carb-heavy sandwiches, yet they still deliver in the flavor department. The Cool Wrap from Chick-fil-A comes loaded with tender grilled chicken, crisp shredded lettuce, two types of cheese, and creamy Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing rolled into a flaxseed wrap. It makes a great meal on the go or a casual dinner.

Why You Should Try This Recipe

Grilling the chicken instead of frying reduces fat and calories and gives the chicken a charred taste that balances out the richness of the cheese and dressing. Besides the nutritional boost you get by replacing the typical white flour tortilla with a wrap made from flaxseed flour, the unique flavor and texture bring something new and surprisingly good to your plate.

At the end of the day, Cool Wrap Chick fil A style is a simple recipe that impresses, and that is a good enough reason to make it.

Chick Fil A Chicken Wrap Ingredients

To make Cool Wraps, you need:

  • Grilled chicken breasts, skinless
  • Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing
  • Lettuce
  • Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Colby Jack cheese, shredded
  • Flaxseed flour wraps, large

Ingredient Notes

Grill the chicken breasts using the same method as in this Chick-fil-A Grilled Chicken Sandwich recipe

Here’s a copycat recipe for Chick-fil-A’s irresistible Avocado Lime Dressing. Feel free to use another recipe or substitute it with regular ranch dressing or a different dressing instead. You can also use mayonnaise or other sauce.

Instead of Colby Jack you can use Monterey Jack or a cheddar cheese blend.

Romaine is a good choice of lettuce, but you can choose your favorite green leaf lettuce. Spinach is also an option.

Finding flaxseed flour flatbread wraps may take a bit of searching, but it is worth it. If you can’t find it at your local supermarket or online, you can make your own flaxseed wraps

How to Make Cool Wraps From Chick-fil-A

To prep the ingredients for the copycat chick-fil-a wrap:

  1. Slice the cooked grilled chicken into finger-width strips. Set the cut chicken aside for later.
  2. Wash and dry the lettuce. Shred the lettuce into thin strips. Reserve.

To assemble a Chick fill A Cool Wrap:

  1. Place the flaxseed wrap on the counter.
  2. Spread a thin layer of Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing onto the middle of the wrap, leaving an inch border all around the wrap. The dressing helps the lettuce stick to the wrap, but you can leave it off if you want to stick to how they serve it at Chick-fil-A. If you leave the dressing off the wrap, use it as a dip instead.
  3. Cover the dressing with the shredded lettuce.
  4. Sprinkle the two kinds of shredded cheese over the lettuce and place the chicken strips in a line a third of the way from the bottom.
  5. Carefully fold the sides of the wrap towards the filling and roll the wrap up from the bottom.
  6. Cut in half and serve.

What to Serve It With

A side, like Quinoa Salad, roasted veggies, or sliced fresh fruit with Cool Whip Dip, will keep things light, but an Awesome Blossom or platter of Aussie Fries may be a little more satisfying.

How to Make These Ahead and Serve Them Later

It is best to keep all the components of this dish separate and make the wraps just before eating, but if you need to prepare the chicken wrap recipe ahead of time, here are a few tips:

  1. Make sure the lettuce is extra dry. Any moisture will make the wraps soggy.
  2. Leave the Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing off the wrap.
  3. Do not cut the wraps in half.
  4. Roll the wraps with paper towels and put them inside an airtight container in the fridge.
  5. Let the wraps rest on the counter for about ten minutes to come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor.
  6. If you want, you can unroll the wrap, heat the chicken strips in the microwave and then rewrap them.

How to Store a Grilled Chicken Wrap

Store the grilled cool wrap or leftovers in the fridge. They don’t freeze well.

How Long Does a Chick Fil A Cool Wrap Last?

Eat premade wraps within a day. Separate components will stay good in the fridge for up to three days.

Ingredients

Grilled Chicken Breast

  • 2 large boneless skinless chicken breasts sliced in half horizontally and pounded thin
  • ½ cup dill pickle juice
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon celery salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil to brush the grill

Wrap

  • 4 8-inch flaxseed wraps
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ¼ cup cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup colby jack cheese
  • Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing or dressing of your choice (optional)

Instructions

Chicken

  • Place the chicken, dill pickle juice, and buttermilk in a zip-top bag. Place the bag in the fridge, and let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes, but preferably for several hours.
  • Prepare the seasoning blend by combing salt, ground black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, and celery salt in a small bowl. Season chicken with the seasoning blend on both sides of the chicken.
  • Heat the grill to 350°F or use a grill pan. Brush the grill with oil.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade and place the chicken on the grill. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. The chicken should have an internal temperature of 165°F when you remove it from the grill.

Wrap

  • Lay the wrap flat and top with about ¼ cup shredded lettuce in the center. Avoid adding any ingredients in the outer 1-inch perimeter of the wrap. You will need this space for folding and rolling your wrap.
  • Top with strips of grilled chicken and shredded cheese. You will likely use 5-6 strips of chicken.
  • Fold in the wrap over the top and bottom space of the ingredients.
  • Then fold one side of the wrap over the ingredients and towards the other side. Tuck under the ingredients tightly.
  • From here, roll the wrap up into a tight wrap, tucking in any excess sides along the way. Be sure to make it tight!
  • Use a sharp knife and cut the wrap in half before you enjoy!
  • Serve with avocado ranch dressing or the dressing of your choice.

Notes

You can add dressing to the wrap before you roll it. However, this method is slightly messier.
